The 300th episode of Screen Junkies YouTube series Honest Trailers has arrived – and they’ve gone big.
The latest Honest Trailer tackles the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe – apart from Avengers: Endgame, which they’re expected to cover around the time of that film’s home entertainment release. This ambitious, very well done Honest Trailer touches on a lot, from an almost bankrupt Marvel selling its Spider-Man and X-Men characters “because they thought movies would be a good way to [snicker] sell more comics,” to the big similarities between all the heroes, to the lacklustre villains.
“People say a hero is only as good as their villain, and thank God that’s not true or the MCU would be hot garbage.” They amusingly point out the real villains throughout the MCU’s timelines: Dad. Tony, Loki, T’Challa, Peter Quill, Gamora, Nebula; yep, all daddy issues.
There’s also the MCU’s reliance on pop culture references, jumping out of planes, and multi-hit combos (that one had us cracking up), among a tonne of other spot-on highlights. Enjoy.
