Not too long ago, we reported on the four actors cast as the Fantastic Four in the upcoming reboot. Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell were cast as the members of the superhero group in the new film, which is to have Josh Trank (Chronicle) at the helm. But what about the villain of the piece? Well, according to The Wrap, 20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank have four actors in mind to play Dr. Doom, the archenemy of the Fantastic Four, and leader of the fictional nation of Latveria.
Sam Riley (Control, On the Road), Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn, Les Misérables), Toby Kebbell (RocknRolla, Wrath of the Titans) and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) are the four names reportedly being looked at to play the villain. There’s one major factor linking these actors: they’re all from the U.K. Jack Huston, who had a small role in American Hustle, was also rumoured to be a possible candidate, but his name seems to have dropped off the grid.
Dr. Doom, also known as Victor von Doom, was last played by Julian McMahon in director Tim Story’s Fantastic Four (2005) and its follow-up Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007).
Whoever lands the role as the villain will be up against Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), the Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan), the Invisible Woman (Kate Mara) and the Thing (Jamie Bell).
Josh Trank’s reboot of The Fantastic Four opens June 19, 2015.
