Prime Video has released the official trailer for 56 Days, a slick, erotic thriller series starring Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia. Love, obsession and murder collide fast. Watch the trailer above, then read on for what’s been revealed.
A romance that curdles into suspicion
Adapted from Catherine Ryan Howard’s bestselling novel, 56 Days opens with a chance supermarket meeting between Ciara Wyse (Cameron) and Oliver Kennedy (Jogia). The connection is instant and consuming. Fifty-six days later, homicide detectives arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find a body, deliberately decomposed and brutally murdered.

The series unfolds across two timelines: a single, pressure-cooker day in the present investigation, and the dizzying escalation of Ciara and Oliver’s relationship in the weeks leading up to it. The central question hangs over every moment: did he kill her, or did she kill him? “I’m gonna get you,” Ciara tells Oliver, sensually and with a hint of something sinister, at one point in the trailer. He replies in similar form: “Not if I get you first.”
Ciara’s friend Shyla (Megan Peta Hill) senses danger early, while investigators Lee Reardon (Karla Souza) and Karl Connolly (Dorian Missick) are left to untangle whether this was a crime of passion, manipulation, or something far darker.
Obsession, secrecy and emotional fallout
Speaking to People, Cameron describes Ciara and Oliver as “two deeply lonely people who are not just attracted to each other, but trauma-bonded,” adding that “their romance is a chemical reaction fueled by obsession and the hope of being understood.”
That volatility is central to the show’s tension. Both characters are hiding things — Oliver carries a second ID under another name, while Ciara’s outward innocence becomes increasingly difficult to read. Jogia frames the series as “less about morality than compatibility and the uneasy way damaged people sometimes fit together,” positioning the story as a study of emotional collision rather than simple guilt.
Creators Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher promise the show will be as “satisfying” as the book, teasing that “every single thread of the story pays off,” and adding, “Her book gave us such a sexy, emotional thrill-ride of a show… It was hugely important to us that she was happy.”

56 Days is written and executive produced by Zwerling and Usher, with James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett executive producing via Atomic Monster. Catherine Ryan Howard serves as co-executive producer as well, keeping the author involved in the shift from page to screen — including changes such as relocating the story to Boston.
