A new trailer has landed for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, bringing Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell together in a sweet, emotional-looking romance-fantasy from director Kogonada. Watch the trailer above and read on for the details.
Robbie and Farrell star as Sarah and David, strangers who meet at a friend’s wedding and, after stumbling across a mysterious door, find themselves thrown into a journey that forces them to look back at the choices that shaped their lives. As the synopsis puts it, “They get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present… and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures.”

Farrell calls the film a “heart opener,” telling People that while it’s “not afraid to look at some of the more painful aspects of life and experiences that we all share, of love and loss,” it is “always angling towards light.”
Robbie describes it as “beautiful and magical and surreal and incredibly romantic,” adding, “I think audiences will have a magical experience watching it. Kogonada is a true artist, and I’ve been dying to work with Colin for years. He’s unbelievable.”
Kogonada previously worked with Farrell on the sci-fi drama After Yang, directed the John Cho-led Columbus, and has helmed episodes of acclaimed series including Pachinko and The Acolyte. The screenplay was written by The Menu scribe Seth Reiss and featured on the 2020 Black List – the annual list of “most-liked” unproduced screenplays circling Hollywood.
The supporting cast includes Kevin Kline, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Billy Magnussen, and Sarah Gadon, among others.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey will be released in Australia on September 18 and in the U.S. on September 19.
