Check out the first trailer BBC has released for A Christmas Carol, an upcoming mini-series adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story.
Guy Pearce plays Ebenezer Scrooge here, a bitter old man who despises the Christmas holiday. Over the course of a Christmas Eve night, Ebenezer is visited by three ghosts that show him his past (Andy Serkis is Ghost of Christmas Past), future (Jason Flemyng is Ghost of Christmas Future), and past (no actor announced as yet for this one, although TOM HARDY is supposed to be on board as well and his role hasn’t be named, sooo… ).
The 3-episode adaptation comes from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter whose credits also include Eastern Promises, Locke, Allied and Tom Hardy series Taboo. Knight wrote all three eps, with direction from Nick Murphy (The Awakening, The Last Kingdom). Hardy and Ridley Scott are among the executive producers. All that talent, and it looks decidedly moody and stylishly dark; yep, sign me up.
A Christmas Carol, also starring Stephen Graham as Jacob Marley, Charlotte Riley as Lottie and Joe Alwyn as Bob Cratchit, will be hitting BBC in the UK and FX in the US in December.
