‘A Star is Born’ Trailer: Bradley Cooper Makes Directorial Debut Singing with Lady Gaga

Bradley Cooper makes his directorial debut with A Star is Born, a film he also co-writes, produces and stars in alongside Lady Gaga.

The story – the fourth time it’s being taken to the big screen – finds Cooper playing seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who’s career is being affected by alcoholism and internal demons. He discovers and soon fall in love with Ally (Gaga), a struggling artist that he pushes into the spotlight.

Cooper shows that he can certainly hold a note in the upcoming music-driven drama. The film, which boasts original music that Gaga and Cooper wrote alongside Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson, could prove to be quite the acting vehicle for its stars and a potentially impressive showcase of Cooper’s talents behind the camera. A Star is Born, also starring Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliot, releases in Australian cinemas on October 4 and opens in the US on October 5.

In this new take on the tragic love story, he plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
