The official trailer for A Very Royal Scandal has just been released, offering viewers a glimpse of the 3-episode Prime Video series starring Michael Sheen (Good Omens, Prodigal Son) as Prince Andrew and Ruth Wilson (Luther, The Affair) as journalist Emily Maitlis. Take a look above.
This upcoming series, the third instalment in the A Very… Scandal anthology (following 2018’s A Very English Scandal and 2021’s A Very British Scandal), delves into a significant moment in British history: Prince Andrew’s infamous 2019 sit-down with journalist Emily Maitlis. The interview addressed the allegations surrounding Prince Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre. The series will explore the lead-up to the controversial interview, the event itself, and the aftermath that would shape their public images and futures.
In addition to Sheen and Wilson, the ensemble cast includes Joanna Scanlan (After Love) as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings (Your Christmas or Mine?) as Sir Edward Young, Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) as Stewart Maclean, Claire Rushbrook (Secrets & Lies) as Sarah Ferguson, Nicholas Burns (The Serpent Queen) as Mark Gwynne, Lydia Leonard (Ten Percent) as Esme Wren, and Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir) as Princess Beatrice, among others.
A Very Royal Scandal is directed by Julian Jarrold (The Crown, Becoming Jane) and written by Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland, A Little Chaos). It is produced by Blueprint Television for Amazon MGM Studios, with Sony Pictures Television handling global distribution. Executive producers include Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Brock, Jarrold, and Maitlis herself, with Josh Hyams also on board as a producer.
The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 19th.
