It’s official: Christian Bale will be playing Steve Jobs.
The confirmation came straight from the mouth of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network), who will pen the upcoming biopic for director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire).
“What we needed was the best actor,” says Sorkin in an interview with Bloomberg.
In case you hadn’t heard by now, the film will consist of three scenes that take place backstage before the launch of a famous Apple product. Since it’s a Sorkin screenplay, it comes as no surprise to learn that Bale will have a hell of a lot of dialogue to deliver.
“It’s an extremely difficult role. He has more words to say than most people have in three movies combined.”
Okay, let’s be clear. Christian Bale will be playing the icon that is Steve Jobs in a film by Danny Boyle, and it comes with a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin. To say we’re excited for this is an understatement.
