Aliens voiced by the Monty Python team give Simon Pegg power to do anything he can imagine in Absolutely Anything, and we have the first trailer right here.
In a test put forward by extra-terrestrials, a random human is chosen to have unlimited power. If he doesn’t use his newly found absolute power for good, the world will be destroyed. No pressure.
Monty Python director Terry Jones (Life of Brian, Monty Python and the Holy Grail) looks to be having giddy fun in this silly and imaginative little film, which also features Robin Williams as the voice of Pegg’s dog.
We’re not expecting a masterpiece here, but with an amiable cast and an (hopefully) amusing screenplay, this Bruce Almighty-esque outing should be able to provide a pleasant night at the movies.
Absolutely Anything, also starring Kate Beckinsale, Rob Riggle, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley and Robert Bathurst, hits the UK on August 14.
Official synopsis for Absolutely Anything:
Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher (Pegg) who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by Cleese, Gilliam, Jones, Palin & Idle), watching him from space.
As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him along the way.
Mishap after mishap finally leads him to the ultimate conundrum that all men dread and at which many have failed….should he choose the girl….or the dog….?
