The first trailer has arrived for Ad Adstra, a sci-fi drama starring Brad Pitt. And yep, it looks very good.
Pitt plays astronaut Roy McBride, who heads on an outer-space journey in search of his father – who may be connected to quite the threat. The cast includes Liv Tyler, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga and Donald Sutherland.
This looks like quite a different type of film for director James Grey, whose delivered quality films of the more “grounded” variety with the likes of We Own the Night, The Immigrant and The Lost City of Z. His films are generally more measured when it comes to pace, so it’ll be interesting to see his sensibilities playing with what looks like mainstream sci-fi elements. This one’s high on our ‘can’t wait’ list.
Ad Astra, which Grey wrote with Ethan Gross (Fringe), opens in Australia on September 19 and hits the US on September 20.
