Big New ‘Ad Astra’ Trailer Shows Off a Promising Brad Pitt Sci-Fi Movie

20th Century Fox

A new trailer has arrived for Ad Astra, the upcoming sci-fi film starring Brad Pitt, Liv Tyler, Tommy Lee Jones and Donald Sutherland.

The plot has an astronaut (Pitt) travelling to the outer edges of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. He uncovers secrets which challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

The new marketing piece comes with an IMAX focus, showcasing some of the gorgeous visuals that will benefit from the biggest screen you can find. The film sure looks great, with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema back in Interstellar territory (his credits also include Let the Right One In, Spectre and Dunkirk). Directing is James Grey, tackling something decidedly different from previous films such as We Own the Night, The Immigrant and The Lost City of Z. Fingers firmly crossed.

Ad Astra will be arriving in Australia on September 19 and opening in the US on September 20. Take a look at the new trailer below, and a new poster beneath it.
