The Thomas Crown Affair has found its new leading lady. Adria Arjona (Andor, Hit Man) will star opposite Michael B. Jordan in Amazon MGM’s high-profile remake, stepping into the co-lead role just days after Taylor Russell (Bones and All, Waves) departed the project.
Russell exited the film earlier this month due to “creative differences,” as first reported by Deadline. No further details have been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the disagreement stemmed from her character, the script, or broader aspects of the production.
With filming already underway in London, the studio moved quickly to recast the part. Variety broke the news of Arjona’s hiring, reporting that Russell’s exit sparked a wave of calls from talent reps, eager to throw their clients’ names in the ring — although no other contenders were named.

Arjona’s casting comes amid a strong career run. She had a key role in Star Wars series Andor, had a role in Zoë Kravitz’s thriller Blink Twice, and starred opposite Glen Powell in Richard Linklater’s Hit Man. Her upcoming projects include Splitsville opposite Dakota Johnson, Prime Video series Criminal, and action horror thriller Onslaught.
Details about the reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair are being kept under wraps. The 1968 original starred Steve McQueen as a suave thief and Faye Dunaway as the insurance investigator on his trail. Jordan, who also directs the new version, takes the lead as Crown — a character most recently portrayed by Pierce Brosnan in the 1999 remake. This will mark Jordan’s second feature as director following Creed III, which he also starred in.
The ensemble cast also includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. The script is by Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Hobbs & Shaw), working off earlier drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. The film is being produced by Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo for Outlier Society, Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment, Patrick McCormick, and Marc Toberoff. Alan Trustman, who wrote the 1968 original, is on board as executive producer.
This new take on The Thomas Crown Affair is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
