One of the new songs in Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin has been introduced in a behind-the-scenes featurette.
Naomi Scott, who stars as Jasmine in the Guy Ritchie-directed film, is the focus of this “special look” promo released by Disney. “What Naomi has done with Jasmine is really powerful and unique,” says her co-star Will Smith, who’s on board as the Genie. Adds actor Mena Massoud, who plays Aladdin: “She brings that sense of empowerment to the character.”
Jasmine has one of the film’s new songs. Titled “Speechless”, the number finds the Princess standing her ground. Says Scott: “She says, ‘Enough is enough. I have a choice here and I’m going to stand up for what I believe in.’ It’s such a strong song.”
Aladdin, also starring Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and David Negahban as Sultan, arrives in Aussie cinemas on May 23 and opens in the US on May 24.
