Understandably, there’s been an outcry from fans for more and demand for a film has been growing. Even cast members have expressed their desire for a feature to help give the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling an appropriate goodbye. Alas, while there is still some hope, even star Alison Brie appears to be a little doubtful that it will happen anytime soon – or at all.
“I’m a little pessimistic about it actually happening just in light of everything that’s gone on this year and how difficult it is to get anything back into production with COVID,” Brie has said on The Playlist’s “The Fourth Wall” podcast.
Brie pointed out another much-loved show that fans have long demanded a movie for – a series that sparked up its own “six seasons and a movie” catchphrase.
“I’m also part of the Community cast, who’s been trying to get a movie going for six years,” said Brie. “So what I’m saying is don’t hold your breath, because if it does happen, it might take a minute.”
A fourth season of GLOW had been given the green light in 2019 and production had kicked off earlier this year. Cameras had been rolling for around three weeks before filming was halted in mid-March as the pandemic escalated.
Ahead for Brie: Promising Young Woman, a dark crime-comedy led by Carey Mulligan, and Kristen Stewart-starring LGBT holiday rom-com Happiest Season.
