Marvel Unveils Big New Trailer for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’

Marvel Studios

Marvel has unveiled a big new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the next chapter to arrive in the MCU.

We catch up with Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hope Van Dyne/ The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) following the events of Captain America: Civil War (meaning, yes, this is set pre-Infinity War). As Scott attempts to balance out home life with being a superhero, he’s forced to suit up again when an urgent new mission arises.

There’s plenty to enjoy in this new trailer, which provides a good look at our new villain Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen, Ready Player One), more of The Wasp kicking ass, welcomes back Michael Peña’s Luis (who should be the go-to character when there’s a story to tell) and the gang, and of course a lot more size-shifting action.

The first film was, somewhat surprisingly following the loss of Edgar Wright as director, a damn good Marvel film. Charming throughout, with creativity to spare and the ever-reliable Rudd perfectly suited to Lang, the film arguably stands as one of the better origin films in the MCU. The follow-up, which finds Peyton Reed back in the director’s chair, appears to be equally as fun and looks to up the visual craziness (how often do you see a giant ant on an electronic drum kit?). The lighthearted, upbeat tone in this corner of the Marvel universe is certainly more than welcome following the, let’s say, gloomier aspects of Avengers: Infinity War. Can’t wait.

Ant-Man and the Wasp, also starring Walton Goggins, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Abby Ryder-Fortson and Randall Park, will arrive in Australia on July 5 and hits the US on July 6.

Official synopsis for Ant-Man and the Wasp:

In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
