First Ant-Man Trailer: Paul Rudd Wants to Change the Name

The first official Ant-Man trailer has finally dropped, giving us our first proper look at Marvel’s latest addition to their cinematic universe.

It’s the first proper trailer, so it’s careful not to reveal too much. In saying that, we do get plenty of footage to whet our appetites, as Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym recruits Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang to be the titular hero. No real plot details are revealed, but we do get to see Rudd in costume and are even treated to seeing Ant-Man get his wings – so to speak.

Somewhat surprisingly, the trailer’s tone isn’t as lighthearted and humourous as you’d expect from a movie starring Rudd and directed by Peyton Reed. Still, there’s plenty of time for more marketing before the film’s U.S. release date of July 17.

Also worthy of a mention: The official press release that came with the trailer officially credits Ant-Man‘s screenplay as written by Andrew McKay and Paul Rudd, while Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish get ‘story by’ credits.

Be sure to check out an amusing new poster for the film underneath the trailer.
