‘Antlers’ Trailer: Keri Russell in Guillermo Del Toro-Produced Creature Horror

Fox Searchlight

Well, this one’s climbed up among the films we’re suddenly very pumped for.

Check out the official trailer to arrive for Antlers, an upcoming horror film directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Out of the Furnace, Hostiles) and produced by Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro. The film follows a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, who discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harbouring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

It’s a tense, almost completely wordless (bar one revealing word) trailer that suggests a highly moody and unsettling horror film. It’s certainly a change of pace for Cooper, whose credits have been dark dramas, although his stab at horror looks to continue some of the hard-edged grit he’s worked with before. It looks good.

Antlers, also starring JT Corbitt, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan, will be hitting US cinemas on January 1, 2020.
