James Wan to Produce ‘Arachnophobia’ Remake

One to skip for those that can’t stand eight-legged freaks.

In the works is a remake of 1990 horror-comedy Arachnophobia, which starred Jeff Daniels and John Goodman. According to Deadline, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is teaming up with James Wan‘s Atomic Monster to craft the film.

Blockbuster filmmaker Wan, whose credits include The Conjuring, Furious Seven and Warner Bros’ upcoming Aquaman, will not be directing the remake, but will be shepherding the film’s fruition as producer. Frank Marshall, director of the original film, is on board as executive producer.

The original told of a South American spider that crosses into the US in a coffin. It soon breeds and the residents of a small Californian town begin to disappear. A few individuals attempt to take down the queen before the entire town is taken over.
