‘Archenemy’ Trailer: Joe Manganiello is an Intermensional Superhero… Maybe

RLJE Films

Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, Sabotage) plays a superhero from another dimension here… possibly.

Check out the trailer that’s arrived for Archenemy, a film that has Manganiello playing the awesomely named Max Fist, a homeless man who claims he’s a hero who who fell through time and space to Earth – where he doesn’t have powers. He befriends a local teen, Hamster (Skylan Brooks), who’s the only person who believes his stories. When Hamster gets in trouble with a crime boss known as The Manager (Glenn Howerton), they decide to take on the local drug syndicate head on.

It remains to be seen if Manganiello, who (quickly) played Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, has an actual superhero character here. The trailer is careful not to say either way whether so-called Max Fist is who he says he is. Perhaps it will remain vague until the final moments? We’ll see. Hero element aside, it’s looking like an energetic little film that’s worth a look.

The film is directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer, who previously helmed decent 2019 imaginary friend horror film Daniel Isn’t Real (our review of that one is HERE).

Archenemy, also starring Skylan Brooks, Zolee Griggs, and Amy Seimetz, hits limited US cinemas, On Demand and Digital on December 11th.
