The first official trailer has been unveiled for Arrival, the upcoming sci-fi picture from director Dennis Villeneuve (Incendies, Prisoners, Sicario).
The film sees Amy Adams playing an expert linguist who is hired to help uncover why alien spacecrafts have arrived. What do they want? Is war the only option?
This looks great. While we’ve been given many, many sci-fi films over the years dealing with the same type of scenario, Villeneuve’s latest looks to offer a focus on miscommunication and the fear of the unknown. With so many nations and so many leaders, humanity stands at the risk of a war at the hands of any one itchy trigger finger.
Villeneuve has proven himself with some truly great pictures, and this could be yet another ace. Fingers crossed.

Arrival, also starring Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mark O’Brien and Tzi Ma, will hit Australian cinemas on November 10 and U.S. cinemas on November 11.
