20th Century Fox has unveiled a new clip from Assassin’s Creed, this one showing off one the film’s action set-pieces.
The energetic clip below finds Michael Fassbender as Aguilar, the ancestor of Callum Lynch (also Fassbender), on a mission to retrieve a kidnapped child. It’s an old-school kind of horse and carriage chase, with a nice bit of destruction and a gravity-defying punchline. The editing may be a little off, but that usually comes down to the promo edits made to release a punchy little scene online.
There are a lot of positive factors that bode well for Assassin’s Creed. Aussie director Justin Kurzel has impressed with Snowtown (aka The Snowtown Murders) and Macbeth, and there’s Michael Fassbender starring alongside Marion Cotillard. Then again, there’s the frustrating history of video game adaptations. Fingers crossed for this one.
Assassin’s Creed, also starring Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael K. Williams, opens in the US on December 21 and arrives in Australia on January 1.
