There’s a lot riding on Assassin’s Creed.
The upcoming video game adaptation has a ton of early buzz, with Australian director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth) and actor/producer Michael Fassbender expected to deliver what could be a potentially great video game adaptation. Great and video game adaptation aren’t usually in the same sentence, so the pressure is well and truly on.
We’re also hoping for something awesome here, and are loving what we’re seeing in the newly released images below.
The stills give us a look at Fassbender’s Callum Lynch, a man who escapes death row when he’s offered the chance to take part in the trial of revolutionary technology. Using tech that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. He discovers he’s descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Assassin’s Creed, also starring Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Callum Turner, will hit the U.S. on December 21 and arrive in Australia on January 1, 2017.

As he awaits his “execution,” Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is as yet unaware of the incredible adventures that lie ahead for him.
