Australia! We’re giving away 10 double, single session passes to the upcoming Alliance Française French Film Festival, kicking off its 30th anniversary season in Sydney on March 5th and making its way around the country until April 17th.
The Alliance Française French Film Festival is beloved by audiences throughout the country for its passion, scope, vitality and colour which encapsulates the very essence of Gallic culture.
Among the many, many gems screening at this year’s festival: The Trouble With You (En liberté!), a sparkling comedy set on the French Riviera that premiered as the centrepiece of Directors’ Fortnight at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival; Girl, an acclaimed, emotional, Golden Globe-nominated film about an adolescent transgender girl; High Life (pictured above), a unique sci-fi experience starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche; and Revenge, a thrilling, stylish and oh-so satisfying retaliation horror-thriller from the female perspective.
An annual highlight on Australia’s ‘arts’ calendar, the Festival has emerged, over the last three decades, as the largest celebration of French cinema outside of France, a nation whose film industry is acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost. Each year’s line-up is a revelation and the 2019 programme which features 54 incredible films and documentaries, is a worthy tribute to the longevity and high standards that this event continues to meet and surpass with each passing year.
David Stratton, arguably Australia’s most beloved film critic, will once again lend his considerable expertise to this honorary role, and will be accompanied by renowned producers Liz Watts (Animal Kingdom) and Rosemary Blight (The Sapphires), both of whom have been champions of cinema for many years. Filmmakers Wayne Blair, Greg McLean and Phillip Noyce, who between them have directed an incredible slate of internationally feted film and television projects, will also be Patrons.
The festival locations include Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart and Adelaide. For the complete line up of films and to purchase tickets, visit the the festival’s official website right HERE.
