Marvel Studios has released a new special look trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, with the moody footage that first screened exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con now going public following its D23 presentation. Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom is firmly at the centre, with Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm warning a room full of heroes and mutants about the man he used to be — before the footage shows just how dangerous he has become. Sue Storm Knows the Man Behind the Mask
The roughly two-minute piece opens on Doom sitting alone on his throne as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, provides some ominous context about the Victor she once knew.

“Victor was always the smartest guy in every room,” Sue says. “He used to be different. He used to be kind. He used to be caring. And then, everything he loved was taken from him. I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken.”
She appears to be addressing an extraordinary gathering of heroes and mutants, with Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Chris Evans’ returning Steve Rogers among those glimpsed.
It’s a surprisingly mournful way to frame the film’s big bad. Rather than simply presenting Doom as an unstoppable multiversal threat, the footage leans into the idea that Reed and Sue knew Victor personally before whatever happened to him turned that brilliance and grief into something catastrophic.
That connection becomes considerably more uncomfortable when Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards confronts him amid the ruins of a devastated city. “Victor, did you do this?” Reed asks.
“All of you have lived stolen lives,” Doom says. “And now you must give them back.”
Doom Shows What He Can Do
The footage cuts through characters from across the Marvel multiverse as Doom delivers that warning, including Steve Rogers with a child, Thor with Love, Johnny Storm holding Franklin Richards, Scott Lang with Cassie, Shuri, Loki, Professor X and Cyclops.
There’s clearly a family theme running through the imagery, which makes Doom’s accusation about “stolen lives” feel particularly pointed given Sue’s explanation that everything Victor loved was taken from him.
Another moment expands on the confrontation teased in the previous trailer. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor faces Doom and promises, “I swear, you will be begging for hell long before I grant it.”
Doom doesn’t seem overly concerned, effortlessly stopping Thor’s swing of Stormbreaker before blasting the God of Thunder away with green energy.
The final image goes even bigger. Doom places his hand to the ground and brings a collection of towering Sentinels to life, giving the classic mutant-hunting machines a suitably apocalyptic entrance.
“Hell answers to me,” he declares. “For I am Doom.”
The Marvel Multiverse Comes Together
The new footage continues to underline just how enormous Avengers: Doomsday is going to be, pulling together characters from the main MCU, the Fantastic Four’s world and the universe inhabited by the returning Fox-era X-Men.
Along with Downey Jr., Evans, Hemsworth, Pascal, Kirby, McKellen and Tatum, the sprawling cast includes Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen and more.
The footage was first screened for the Hall H crowd at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Marvel brought it back for D23 in Anaheim, where Downey Jr., Evans and Hayley Atwell joined Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige onstage before the special look was finally released publicly.
Anthony and Joe Russo are back in the director’s chairs, returning to the MCU after previously helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Release Date
Avengers: Doomsday opens in Australian cinemas on December 17 and U.S. cinemas on December 18, 2026.
