Looks like it’s finally official!
A third Bad Boys movie is going ahead after years of development hell. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are set to reunite as Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, respectively, in Bad Boys for Life. Check out the announcement posts the stars shared on Instagram:
Set to direct the long-awaited third chapter are Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Belgian filmmakers known for crime films Black and Gangsta, as well as episodes of FX series Snowfall. Chris Bremner, who worked as associate producer on Kevin Hart comedy The Wedding Ringer, has written the latest draft.
Sony has been trying to spark up the Bad Boys franchise again for a years. In 2015 the studio even had an ambitious plan to release Bad Boys 3 and 4. Alas, fast forward two years later and director and writer Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The Grey) had left the project.
Looks like it’s all ready to go now; you can imagine Smith and Lawrence wouldn’t be hyping the project like this if deals hadn’t been signed. Bad Boys for Life, which will once again be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is scheduled to open in US cinemas on 17 January 2020.
