New ‘Bad Boys for Life’ Trailer Unveils More of the Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Action Threequel

Sony Pictures

Sony has dropped the second official trailer for Bad Boys for Life, the long-awaited third film in the action-comedy franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

It’s somehow been 24 years since Michael Bay delivered the first film and 16 years since his sequel. Bay isn’t back for number 3, although new directors Adil El and Arbi Fallah (Black, Gangsta) look to be sticking to his visual style.

I’m personally cool with more of the same if this franchise is going to continue, and it certainly looks like a number of Bad Boys II plot beats are getting a redo here; Mike is still oh-so confident, stylish and creating chaos, and Marcus is again questioning his career choice and freaking out over Mike’s driving. They are older now though, so there are some digs about their age and the duo are forced to work with some young recruits (played by Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig and Charles Melton).

Bad Boys for Life is scheduled to open in Australian cinemas on January 16 and will hit the US on January 17, 2020.
