Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in Bad Boys for Life, which has received its first trailer.
Our first look at the long-awaited third entry in the action-comedy franchise has arrived, showcasing an entry that should make fans comfortable. Marcus messing up Mike’s ride, Marcus threatening to call it a day, Mike in trouble with the always-stressed Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano reprising his role); it basically looks a lot like Bad Boys II, which is fine with me (I’m unashamedly a fan of the first two films). The plot this time has the pair taking on Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), the head of a ruthless drug cartel.
It looks fun, although the trailer would have benefited from showing off a stand-out action sequence. There is Mike jumping to a chopper from an explosion and a some vehicular action in a mall, but we’ll see if there’s anything here that can take on the crazy highway sequence from the second film.
Michael Bay hasn’t returned to direct this one. At the helm this time are Belgian directors Adil El and Arbi Fallah, who previously delivered more serious films in the crime/action genre with Black and Gangsta.
Also starring Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo and Nicky Jam, Bad Boys for Life is scheduled to open in Australian cinemas on January 16 and will hit the US on January 17, 2020.
