Bad Boys 3 can’t seem to get going, but that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t continue in other ways.

A Bad Boys spinoff television series is currently being pitched to networks. Gabrielle Union is set to lead the potential series, which will focus on her Bad Boys II role, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Syd.

The Michael Bay-directed sequel saw Syd dating Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), who wanted their relationship kept hidden from his partner/her brother, Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence).

According to the Deadline report, the idea for the spinoff stems from Primary Wave Entertainment, which manages Union. Behind the project are big-time producer Jerry Bruckheimer (who also produced the Bad Boys films), Jaff Gaspin, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed and Jeff Morrone (Union’s manager).

It’s good timing for Union; the actress’ BET series Being Mary Jane will be ending in 2018 with a 2-hour movie finale.

We’ll see where this one lands.
