‘Bad Hair’ Trailer: Killer Follicles in Horror Film from ‘Dear White People’ Creator

Hulu

Now this one looks different. Hulu has released the trailer for upcoming satire horror film Bad Hair, from Justin Simien, director and writer of 2014 film Dear White People and creator of the Netflix series adaptation that followed.

Bad Hair is set in 1989 and stars Elle Lorraine (Insecure) as Anna Bludso, an ambitious young woman who gets a weave in order to succeed in the image-obsessed world of music television. However, her flourishing career comes at a great cost when she realises that her new hair, wait for it… may have a mind of its own.

Simien’s Dear White People had a good bit of buzz and its satirical elements had people talking around the film fest circuit. We’ll see what we’re in for with Bad Hair, which looks to be both serious with its intentions and amusingly self aware of its bonkers plot.

Featuring a cast that includes Kelly Rowland, Vanessa Williams, Jay Pharoah, Lena Waithe, Blair Underwood , Usher Raymond and Laverne Cox, Bad Hair will be premiering on U.S. service Hulu on October 23.
