The trailer has arrived for Ballerina, an upcoming Ana de Armas-starring action film set within the John Wick universe (it appears that they’ve gone with the awkward title of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, just so audiences really know the brand connection). Take a look above.
Set during the tumultuous events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film centers on Eve Macarro (de Armas), a ballerina who transitions into an elite assassin following the tragic murder of her family. As the trailer show, her journey for vengeance introduces her to familiar faces from the John Wick saga, including Ian McShane, reprising his role as Winston, the enigmatic owner of the Continental Hotel, and the late Lance Reddick as Charon. The trailer also features Gabriel Byrne as an antagonist, and Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno in undisclosed roles.
Importantly, and perhaps unsurprisingly, we get a cameo by Keanu Reeves as John Wick. “How do I start doing what you do?” Eve asks the one-man army they call Baba Yaga. Wick replies, “Looks like you already have.”
The film is directed by Len Wiseman, known for Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Die Hard 4.0 (aka Live Free or Die Hard), and 2012’s Total Recall. The screenplay comes from Shay Hatten, who previously co-wrote John Wick chapters 3 and 4.

Ballerina experienced a significant one-year delay from its original June 2024 release. The postponement was reportedly to amp up the action sequences, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski overseeing these additions to maintain the franchise’s signature style.
Ana de Armas, who had an action sequence in James Bond film No Time To Die, shared her experience filming intense action sequences with Reeves. “We still have one more month to go. And I’m in pain. You know, my body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining, I’m sore, I’m bruised,” she said while on talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Bond was fifteen minutes. This is a whole movie, another level. […] Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing crazy stunts. And I’m like – I can’t complain anymore because he is doing it! He truly is the best.”
Ballerina will be in Australian and US cinemas on June 6th, 2025.
