Quick ‘Batwoman’ Teaser Released as The CW Officially Orders Series

The CW

It’s official: Batwoman, starring Ruby Rose, is on the way to The CW.

The latest addition to the Arrowverse that kicked off in 2012 is Batwoman, starring Aussie export Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2). Rose made her debut as the Gotham City hero, aka Kate Kane, in the Arrowverse cross-over episode Elseworlds.

The teaser below is of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it variety, but it does offer a clear look at Rose looking badass in full hero garb. There’s also a bit of history being made here; Kate Kane is the first gay superhero to lead their own series.

As with the rest of the Arrowverse, Batwoman comes from super producer Greg Berlanti. He’s also behind Riverdale, and that series’ spinoff Katy Keene (starring Lucy Hale as the Archie comics character) has also been given a series order, which means that Berlanti is behind 9 (NINE!) of CW’s shows. The network now has 17 scripted shows.
