Before I Wake Trailer: Kate Bosworth & Thomas Jane’s Son Shouldn’t Sleep

The first trailer has dropped for Before I Wake, an upcoming supernatural thriller starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane.

The plot revolves around a married couple who have adopted an 8-year-old boy, Cody (Jacob Tremblay), after their own child passed away. They soon learn that Cody’s dreams manifest physically as he sleeps; his sweet dreams and his nightmares come to life.

There certainly looks to be one or two creepy moments here. It looks well directed, and Bosworth and Jane are both decent, but we’re worried there’s an over-reliance on horror tropes to make this much more than a mildly entertaining supernatural thriller.

Director Mike Flanagan delivered a pleasant surprise with 2013’s Oculus, so here’s hoping Before I Wake comes through in similar fashion.

The film, also starring Annabeth Gish and Dash Mihok, hits U.S. cinemas on May 8.

In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody’s imagination, and in the next, the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody’s nightmares.
