In what didn’t come as too much of a surprise, Black Panther was chosen as Best Movie at this year’s BET Awards.
Black Panther, the fourth highest-grossing film (worldwide – unadjusted figures) in the MCU behind Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s The Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, was bestowed with the award for Best Movie at last night’s ceremony. Director Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, who worked together for the third time following Fruitvale Station and Creed, were on hand to accept the award.
“The film is about our experience being African-Americans, also trying to capture the experience of being African on this planet,” Coogler said in his acceptance speech.
“For us it was about tapping into that voice that we always hear, that tells us to be proud of who we are, to be proud of where we come from.”
