Netflix has chosen who it is that will be directing a live-action feature adaptation of 2003 video game Beyond Good & Evil.
Set to the helm the feature is Rob Letterman, known for previously directing Detective Pikachu, Goosebumps and the Jack Black-starring Gulliver’s Travels, as well co-directing CG-animated films Monsters vs Aliens and Shark Tale. THR broke the news of Letterman’s hiring, reporting that the search is currently on for writers to adapt the game.
Action-adventure game Beyond Good & Evil followed the adventures of Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist working with a resistance movement to reveal a planet-wide alien conspiracy.
The 2003 game was originally envisioned to be the start of a trilogy, although poor sales numbers put a stop to a potential franchise. Still, it was critically acclaimed and earned a cult following over the years. Ubisoft has had a prequel game, Beyond Good & Evil 2, in the works for a few years now, with still no word on a release date.
