That’s right, you royal ugly dudes. Bill & Ted 3 is officially happening – and there’s a release date to prove it!
The fans have been clamoring for ages and the rumours have been circling for years, but it’s actually going ahead. Bill & Ted Face the Music will begin filming this summer in the US, with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter back as the two loveable, rock-loving, time-travelling simpletons.
The actors made the announcement in a special video. “It is all because of you guys,” Winter said to fans. “We owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we wanted to say thank you.”
More info in a bit, but first up, the video:
Directing the film is Dean Parisot, whose credits include Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane and Red 2. We should be in safe hands with script, since its coming from returning Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure scribes Chris Matheson (Imagine That, A Goofy Movie) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black, Now You See Me, Mosaic).
The film’s official synopsis:
Following 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
Bill & Ted Save the Music is scheduled to open in US cinemas on August 21, 2020.
