Dudes, the teaser trailer has finally arrived for the new Bill and Ted movie!
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprise their titular roles in Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third film in the comedy franchise that began with 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and was followed up with Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991.
Now, almost thirty years later, comes the threequel, which finds Bill and Ted as middle-aged fathers and down on the fact that they haven’t exactly lived out what they envisioned. When a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe, well, it’s time to party on.
Fans will no doubt be pumped to see Reeves and Winter back as the rockers; it’ll be interesting to see if younger generations will warm to them as well. With so much drama in the world, count this writer as one looking forward to tuning out for a little with these time-travelling dudes.
The film is directed by Dean Parisot, known for Galaxy Quest and Fun with Dick and Jane, and written by Chris Matheson & Ed Solomon – the duo that wrote the first two films.
Bill & Ted Face the Music, also starring William Sadler (back as the Grim Reaper), Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Pain and Kid Cudi, among others, is scheduled to hit cinemas (yep!) in the U.S. on August 21 and in Australia on August 27.
The stakes are higher than ever for the time-travelling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves). The now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe, with the help of their daughters (played by Australia’s very own Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine), a new batch of historical figures and a few music legends. The film also stars Kid Cudi, Kristen Schaal, Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Jillian Bell, Holland Taylor, Beck Bennett, William Sadler, Hal Landon Jr. and Amy Stoch.
