Bill and Ted will be attempting to face the music again, but they’ve got a few big responsibilities they didn’t have last time we hung out with them: daughters.
Upcoming threequel Bill & Ted Face the Music has cast the daughters of Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston (Alex Winter). Set to play Billie Logan and Thea Preston are Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving, respectively.
Lundy-Paine’s credits include Downsizing and The Glass Castle, but she’s perhaps best known for her role in Netflix comedy series Atypical. Former Home & Away Aussie actress Weaving (Hugo is her uncle) had a starring role in Netflix horror-comedy The Babysitter and has a rapidly expanding resume that includes Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Picnic at Hanging Rock and SMILF.
“When we saw Samara and Brigette together, it was like deja vu,” producer Scott Kroopf said in a statement. “It was exactly the way we felt when we first saw Keanu and Alex. We are so thrilled to have this funny and unique pair join the ‘Bill and Ted’ team!”
Directed by Galaxy Quest and Fun with Dick and Jane helmer Dean Parisot, Bill & Ted Face the Music will catch up with our two time-travelled rockers as middle-aged fathers. Their kids are mad at them, their marriages are failing, they aren’t the awesome musos they thought they’d be. When a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe, well, it’s time to rock on.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is currently filming and will be hitting US cinemas on August 21, 2020.
