Take a look at this 20-second promo-teaser released to kick off the hype as Birds of Prey begins production.
Cameras have officially started rolling on the DC film, which actually has the deep-breath-needed title of Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The film will see Margot Robbie reprising her titular role in a plot that finds Quinn teaming up three other female superheroes – Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) – to save the life of a little girl (Ella Jay Basco) from an evil crime lord. Ewan McGregor plays DC villain Black Mask.
The little tease below provides some blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em shots of the cast looking badass. It’s a colourful snippet that looks like something out of Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, and it could suggest what kind of aesthetic they’re going for… or it’s a quick hype piece and there’s nothing to really look into. Either way, we’re pumped to see the final product. Be sure to also scroll further down to check out an in-character pic Robbie released on Instagram.
Birds of Prey, directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) and written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), arrives in Australia on February 6, 2020 and hits the US on February 7, 2020.
