Netflix has released the trailer for the fifth season of anthology series Black Mirror.
The cast this time includes Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, and Aussie actress Angourie Rice. No official synopsis has yet been released for the upcoming season, but the trailer below does hint at your expected oh-so Black Mirror narratives, including a guy losing it over the electronics we’re reliant on, a girl with a Siri-esque doll, infidelity, and what appears to be the ability to embody avatars in a Street Fighter-style punch up?
Which is to say, it looks great. Season 5 of Black Mirror, which also stars Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin, will be hitting Netflix on June 5.
Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
