Scarlett Johansson reprises the titular role in an MCU chapter set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before Avengers: Infinity War. Natasha Romanoff returns to Russia and confronts her past, reuniting with family and taking on Taskmaster, a villain that’s manipulating spies.
Since we had a run of multiple Marvel films a year, it feels like a long time between drinks – Endgame came out in April 2019. Fingers crossed the MCU continues its streak of solid entertainment with Romanoff’s long-awaited solo film, which the trailers have promised to be another fun, firmly within formula, new chapter.
As Marvel producer Kevin Feige said in December, there could be some big surprises regarding what we think we know about our heroine.
“But we had this thought of exploring a little bit of her past that we hadn’t seen before and how that impacts the adventure she had between Civil War and Infinity War,. And in fact, there are things that she does in Infinity War and Endgame that you’ll see in a new light once you see the Black Widow.”
Black Widow, also starring Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melinda, arrives in Australia on April 30 and hits the U.S. on May 1. Check out the new trailer below and scroll down for the latest poster.
