The film is set thirty years after the events in Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece and follows a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling). After discovering a long-buried secret that could destroy society, K goes on a quest to find former LAPD blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford).
We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: this looks freakin’ spectacular. The very idea of a Blade Runner sequel was cause for apprehension, but then director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies, Sicario, Arrival) signed on, the great cinematographer Roger Deakins (The Shawshank Redemption, No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) was placed behind the lens, and the first trailer dropped. Boom. Just like that, Blade Runner 2049 made its way towards the top of our must-see list. And as if more was needed, along comes the fantastic new trailer we’ve placed below.
Fingers crossed it’s as good as it looks.
Blade Runner 2049, also starring Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Jared Leto, David Dastmalchia, Edward James Olmos, and Lennie James, will arrive in Australia on October 5 and opens in the U.S. on October 6.
