‘Blood & Water’ Trailer: Secrets and Class Warfare in Netflix’s South African Teen Series

Check out the trailer Netflix has released for Blood & Water, the streaming giant’s second South African Original series following Queen Sono.

The show follows a 16-year-old girl (played by Ama Qamata) who makes her way into a prestigious school with a plan to investigate the case of a sister that was abducted at birth, 17 years prior. Netflix is all in when it comes to shows of teens up to no good and the battles of class hierarchy; Elite, Riverdale, The Society, Outer Banks, etc. It looks to be firmly within formula, so if you’re a fan of shows in this vein, line it up – having one from South Africa could make it somewhat fresh, too.

Blood & Water, also starring Greteli Fincham, Arno Greeff, Odwa Gwanya and Thabang Kamogelo, hits Netflix on May 20th.

Official synopsis for Blood & Water:

Set in the surroundings of Parkhurst College, the prestigious inner-city school for elite scholars and academic overachievers. Blood & Water follows the exploits of 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo, as she engineers her transfer to the school to investigate the 17-year-old cold case of the abducted-at-birth older sister she’s never met.
