‘Borderline’ Trailer: Samara Weaving Fights Off a Crazy Fan Played by Ray Nicholson

Ready or Not star Samara Weaving is in for another fight for survival in Borderline, a twisted thriller from Cocaine Bear writer and first-time feature director Jimmy Warden (Weaving’s real-life husband). Take a look at the tense and darkly comedic trailer above.

Weaving stars as Sofia, a world-famous pop star whose life turns into a nightmare when an unhinged fan, Paul (Ray Nicholson, Smile 2), breaks into her home, convinced they’re meant to be married. What starts as delusional devotion quickly turns violent, forcing Sofia to fight for her life with the help of her bodyguard (Eric Dane).

Nicholson, channeling some of his father Jack Nicholson’s signature menace, delivers a performance that looks to be both charming and terrifying, and all-round bonkers. Weaving, a modern horror favourite (Ready or Not, Scream VI, The Babysitter, Azrael), once again finds herself in a high-stakes survival story—one that plays with Misery-like obsession while dabbling with satirical rom-com elements.

Warden’s screenplay was a standout on the 2020 Black List. Produced by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, the film went into production in Vancouver in September 2022.

Borderline, with a cast that includes Alba Baptista (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris), Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), and Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), will get a theatrical and digital release in the U.S. on March 14th.
