Jack and the Beanstalk, it’s not something that you’d associate with the creator of one of the best TV dramas ever made, but Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan has taken a twist on the tale to Disney.
Deadline reports that the studio is currently in the early stages of acquiring Beanstalk, “a revisionist take” based on an outline penned by Gilligan.
Gilligan has handed screenwriting duties to Thomas Schnauz, who took home two Emmy Awards for Breaking Bad.
Interestingly, Gilligan may be attached to direct the film, which would be his first feature as director. The project is only in its early days, so plenty could change on the road to a production start.
We’re downright intrigued as to what Gilligan’s take on the story entails, especially when you consider the fact that Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Slayer took $197 million worldwide – on a budget of $195 million. Disney must have seen something great in Gilligan’s outline.
