Our first look at Bright, the upcoming Will Smith and Joel Edgerton crime-fantasy feature heading to Netflix, has arrived in the form of a teaser.
The film is set in a world where humans co-exist with orcs, elves, and fairies, with Smith and Edgerton playing two cops from very different backgrounds. One night on patrol, these cops encounter something that may alter their entire world.
Suicide Squad director David Ayer reunites with Smith here, working from a screenplay by Chronicle and American Ultra scribe Max Landis.
It’s a little hard to tell what to expect from this, but there could be a recipe for something quiet original. The snippets on offer below don’t reveal much in the way of plot, which is great for now, and the hints we do get are of an off-kilter world that mashes up Ayer’s gritty LA cop stories (Training Day, End of Watch) with fantasy. Yes, consider us very intrigued.
Bright, also starring Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramírez, Margaret Cho and Ike Barinholtz, will hit Netflix in December.
