Imagine if Kal-El arrived was the complete opposite of Earth’s saviour.
A big new trailer has arrived for Brightburn, an upcoming “superhero horror” movie that serves as a dark take on Superman’s origins story. To be clear, it’s not a DC property, but they’re proudly showcasing the nods.
Jackson A. Dunn plays an alien child who crash-lands on Earth. He’s taken in by a couple (Elizabeth Banks, David Denman), who have no idea what powers and darkness this boy possesses. Suffice it to say, their town, and potentially the world at large, could be in for one hell of a bad time. Yep, we cant’ wait.
Brighburn, produced by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, written by Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn, and directed by David Yarovesky (The Hive), will arrive in Australia on May 23 and opens in the US on May 24.
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
