Bruce Willis is set to star in a new hostage thriller entitled Captive. The action-thriller is to be set in Brazil, with Willis playing a real-estate developer who is kidnapped and held for ransom whilst working in the country. These kidnappers think that he must be wealthy, but he’s just an ordinary guy. As he tries to find a way out of his armored-truck prison cell hidden in a Sao Paolo landfill, a detective tries to find him.
The film is to be directed by Simon Brand, a Colombian-born director who made his name directing music videos for artists like Ricky Martin and Shakira, even earning two Grammy nominations for his efforts. His first feature film was the 2006 Jim Caviezel-starring thriller Unknown, which wasn’t too bad.
Benjamin van der Veen (Che: Part Two – Guerilla) and Kario Salem (The Score) have written the screenplay, based on a story by Nicolai Fuglsig, who will also be serving as executive producer on the film.
Captive was originally set to star Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead, so they’ve had to re-juggle investors and rework their distribution plans.
The action-thriller is set to begin production this March.
