An international trailer has been released for Café Society, the latest film from writer-director Woody Allen.
Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, and Steve Carell, Café Society tells of a young man that hits ’30s Hollywood in the hopes of entering the film industry.
If you’re a Woody Allen fan, this will no doubt be right up your alley. Tackling this era of Hollywood could prove to be a fun exercise for the filmmaker’s stylings, and the trailer below certainly looks promising. There’s a strong cast filling out a variety of roles, plus having three-time Oscar winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro (Last Tango in Paris, Apocalypse Now, The Last Emperor) on board appears to have provided Allen’s latest with lush visuals.
The film marks the third film with Eisenberg and Stewart sharing the screen, following Adventureland and last year’s American Ultra.
Café Society, also starring Corey Stoll, Jeannie Berlin, Parker Posey, and Ken Stott, will open the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival next month and receive a U.S. release on August 12.
A young man arrives in Hollywood during the 1930s hoping to work in the film industry. There, he falls in love, and finds himself swept up in the vibrant café society that defined the spirit of the age.
