‘Captive State’ Trailer: John Goodman & Vera Farmiga in an Earth Run by Aliens

Focus Features

Check out the trailer released for Captive State, an upcoming sci-fi film from Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt.

Featuring a cast that includes John Goodman and Vera Farmiga, Captive State is set around a decade after aliens have taken over the earth. They didn’t arrive with all-out annihilation as their primary objective. Instead, they came to rule and occupy. We’ll be following people on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.

Wyatt’s previous three features have all been quite different from each other, from the prison break film with The Escapist, to the crime-drama with the Mark Wahlberg-starring The Gambler. It’s Wyatt’s Apes movie that really impressed though, kicking off what would go on to be a standout trilogy. Having him back in the sci-fi realm is enticing. Let’s see what unfolds here.

Captive State, also starring Moonlight and The Equalizer 2 actor Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors, and Machine Gun Kelly, will be hitting US cinemas on 29 March 2019. No Aus date has yet been confirmed.
