Sony Pictures is teaming up with Channing Tatum to create an untitled crime thriller. Tatum is attached to both star and produce. He’ll be producing alongside partner Reid Carolin, Craig Zadan, and Neil Meron. Zadan and Meron produced the 86th Academy Awards, and movie musicals such as Chicago. They are also currently developing Monster High with Universal, written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and an untitled Beach Boys project with Fox 2000.
The untitled project is explained as a 70’s era story of an everyday suburban man deciding to go up against the country’s most notorious mob boss.
Michael De Luca and Jonathan Kadin will be leading the way from Sony. Kristin Gore is to pen the script. Gore previously worked alongside Meron and Zadan on the Academy Awards, and currently has Racing Dreams in development with DreamWorks.
UTA, Craig Jacobson, and Stewart Brookman represent Tatum, who has certainly been busy as of late. This year he stars in Sony’s 22 Jump Street alongside Jonah Hill, Jupiter Ascending, and Foxcatcher. Production is begin this fall on his co-written Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the hit Steven Soderbergh-directed drama Magic Mike.
